Remarks & Notes
The passing siding at Kennesaw had recently been extended when this meet took place in 1953. At the time, this line belonged to the Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis, and L&N had trackage rights between Junta Tower at Cartersville, and Atlanta (The two roads merged in 1957.). The train in the siding is a mixed train that replaced local passenger service between Etowah and Atlanta a few years earlier. The wooden Jim Crow combine on the rear wasn't too inviting at the time, but railfans would flock to ride today if the service still ran. (original photo by the late Dick Sharpless)
