Remarks & Notes
One of ten 125-ton, 3,200 hp GE electrics built for the Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper, No. 402 is exhibited at the Oquirrh Mountain Mining Museum near Tooele along with ore car 880 and caboose 416. Locomotive 402 was built in November 1947 as KCC 2, and was renumbered 402 in May 1964. It normally operated paired with another unit between KCC's Copperton yard and the mills at Magna, Arthur, and Bonneville. After being retired in 1978 it was donated to the Promontory Chapter NRHS, and later restored for display at the mining museum. Sister 407 is preserved at the Western Railway Museum, Rio Vista Junction, California.
