Remarks & Notes
A crew member from R.J. Corman Derailment Services looks on as a tractor places a piece of panel track on the ground. The crumpled TXUX hopper seen on the right will be hoisted on to that panel shortly. The 8814 was the lead locomotive of the CATMSUD0-93 which rear-ended the stopped C-RWMKCM0-93 which had a DPU on the rear. The trailing AC4400CW which was behind the 8814 can be seen on a piece of panel track in the distance. According to an FRA report, this wreck was caused by the failure of the crew of the CATMSUD0-93 to comply with the signal indication of an intermediate signal which was displaying a red aspect.
