Exiting Stretchers Neck Tunnel, the only tunnel on CSX's New River Subdivision, Amtrak's eastbound Cardinal prepares to board passengers at Prince, before continuing east. The tri-weekly Cardinal serves the West Virginia stations of Huntington, Charleston, Thurmond, Prince, Hinton, Alderson, and White Sulphur Springs.
Powerful members of Congress once helped this scenic state get levels of service not seen elsewhere. Now the Capitol Limited and Cardinal are all that remain.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
