| Whether it be by river or rail the tonnage always seems to be moving along here. As a towboat is pushing barges a UP freight train rumbles eastbound underneath the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood and the downtown St. Paul skyline on a nice summer's morning. It's been reported that 110 trains a day or 10,000 railcars pass along here with the UP, CP, BNSF and Amtrak utilizing this trackage plus the locals and transfers and it's expected to increase to 160 trains within the next decade. The state of Minnesota and the railroads are looking to spend $827 million to make sure that the trains keep moving through here. |
