Remarks & Notes
After being shipped to Vermont as part of White River Junction's Glory Days of the Railroad Festival last weekend, the Amtrak Phase I P42 #156 has spent the week assigned to the Vermonter trains. The #55 is seen pulling away from the Montpelier Junction station on its way from St. Albans to New Haven, CT (where the #156 is turned back).

The successor to the Montrealer, the Vermonter runs between St. Albans, Vt., and Washington, DC. Much of the northern part of the route runs along the Connecticut and White Rivers.

When Amtrak began, it served none of the three northern New England states. Today, all have service and there is talk of expansion.
