Located on the Vermont border on the east side of Rensselaer County, the Town of Petersburgh is a very rural farming area. On the first day of September a farmer pauses from raking hay with his International 444 tractor to notice the Nickel Plate Road heritage unit rolling east with an 88 car loaded coal train for Bow, NH. Built between 1967 and 1975, the International 444 is still younger then the Nickel Plate that was merged into N&W in 1964. And even though THIS Nickel Plate was built a few months ago courtesy NS, this is still an historic meeting for upstate NY. Train symbol is NHB-46 but it was referred to simply as the loaded coal train by the crew and dispatcher.
