This ex Conrail caboose was recently repainted by the S&NC into a scheme very similar to one used by the D&H. It was rolled out on the day of the Sanford Lake Branch inspection train. This caboose was built in 1970 or 1971 by International Car and delivered as Penn Central 24548, class N-12. It became Conrail 24548, also class N-12, and then Upper Hudson 101.
Have you ever watched cabooses, enjoyed their uniqueness, wondered about the men inside, or the jobs they do? Once an everyday sight on the rails, they have decreased in numbers, yet they are a very important part of railroad history.
