Remarks & Notes
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is a heritage line in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. Unfortunately in 2011 In January 2011, the railway was damaged by a landslip, just east of Winchcombe station. The slip effectively severed the railway in two, and no services could be run. The estimated cost of the repair work is £850,000. To raise the money, a Diesel service has been running from Toddington up to the extension at Laverton, and steam trains are running from Winchcombe to Cheltenham Racecourse (while the slip is currently being repaired). Here we see GWR 2-8-0 no. 2807 arriving at Winchcombe with a train from Cheltenham racecourse on 9th August 2012. This locomotive was built in October 1905 and was not withdrawn until March 1963. It went to the famous scrapyard in Barry, South Wales and was rescued from there in 1981, returning to steam in 2010.
