| Remarks & Notes |
| On a fine October 1977 afternoon, a pair of Rio Grande SD9s await their next assignment on the mainline out of Provo Yard. D&RGW 5308 and 5309 were built new by EMD for the Rio Grande in July 1957. Eddie Anderson, the Provo trainmaster requested six axle units from Roper Yard to move heavy tonnage between Provo and Geneva Steel. He got his wish and we had the opportunity to watch, listen to, and photograph SD7s and SD9s pulling heavy tonnage trains on a daily basis. |
