| Remarks & Notes |
| Alicia, PA 7/11/12 - The day is almost over for the work of Cumberland Mine Railroad's SD-38-2 CMYX 22. Paired with sister unit CMYX 1 which is tied onto the end of this 38 car coal train, the two engines provide push-pull service via remote control to the 18 mile round trip between the Cumberland Mine at Kirby, PA and a barge transloading facility at Alicia, PA. The trains run around the clock, averaging up to 6 turns per day. But on this hazy summer evening, a conveyor belt at the mine's tipple has failed, rendering it useless to continue running turns for the next 24 hours. Once this train is unloaded in the dumping shed it is about to enter, the one man crew will be relieved of duty until operations resume the following midnight. |
