Remarks & Notes
Alicia, PA 7/11/12 - Cumberland Mine Railroad engineer Denny Barrish notches up the throttle on SD-38-2 CMYX 1 and checks the status of the remote control for sister SD-38-2 CMYX 22 that is on the rear of his 38-car train of empty hoppers headed for the Cumberland Mine at Kirby, PA. The Cumberland Mine Railroad runs an average of 6 daily turns between the mine and a barge transloading facility along the Monogahela River. A pair of SD-38-2s are the only locomotives on the railroad--number 1 and 22--and they operate on each end of every train in push-pull operation.
