| Remarks & Notes |
| Five NS heritage units make their way westbound from Knoxville, TN to Andover, VA. Here, they cross the Clinch River at appropriately-named Clinchport, VA. The right of way below the bridge and following the river north of here as Va. route 65 (as far as the south end of the siding at Starnes) was actually graded by the "Triple C"--the Charleston, Cincinnati & Chicago. The line was a predecessor of the Clinchfield, although tracks were never laid on this particular stretch of grade. In effect, the Triple C was a flag that fell, even before it flew. :) |
