| Remarks & Notes |
| Four RS-3s and an FA-2 (last unit) are on the point of L&N's daily Norton, VA to Corbin, KY through freight number 66. The structure in the left background is the Appalachia Hotel--a rather imposing structure for the coalfield region. It survives to this day as a restored public "high rise" for the elderly and handicapped. Notice the fireman of the 220 is looking back for relayed hand signals from the brakeman and/or flagman. They are in the process of making a pick up of interchange cars from the Southern. |
