| Remarks & Notes |
| For a long time it was normal practice for narrow gauge trains to handle standard gauge cars between Alamosa and Antonito and intermediate points on the three-rail. By the early 60's this practice had become increasingly rare. The trainmen on the ground are Ray Murray (left) and Harley Gilland (right). Note the dual gauge idler car. Fifty-two years later it is not clear which is more interesting, the narrow gauge steam engine switching on dual gauge track, or a genuine Rock Island boxcar. |
