| Both D&RGW and the SP ordered three German Krauss-Maffei ML-4000 diesel hydraulics in 1961, but after three years D&RGW wasn't happy with the experiment. They sold their three to willing-buyer SP. As I was on a downhill SP train off Donner Pass on April 28, 1964, suddenly here was SP KM 9023 on the headend of another KM and three F units as we met near Crystal Lake, Calif. |
