Remarks & Notes
This crew member doesn't look very cheerful as he walks forward to change the points to allow Slough Estates No. 3 to run round its freight stock at the Middleton Railway Gala, “200 Years of Steam”. This railway is the world's oldest continuously working railway. It was founded in 1758 and is now a heritage railway run by volunteers from The Middleton Railway Trust Ltd. since 1960. On 24th June, 2012 the Railway celebrated the 200th anniversary of steam power on the railway. In June 1812 the Middleton Railway became the first railway in the world to successfully use steam locomotives in a commercial environment.
