| Remarks & Notes |
| Classic, original Boston & Maine semaphore blades and a once-commonplace B&M telephone box wait out the nighttime hours on the banks of the Winnipesaukee River in Tilton, N.H., with the sleepy little depot just a few feet away (on the left side of the frame). The signal and the telephone sit frozen in time, waiting for that nighttime train to roll in, waiting for that call to the dispatcher . . . forever, they wait. But nary a train is near. The B&M last ran passenger trains through Tilton in January, 1965, and the last B&M freight rolled through town in 1973. A series of operators has operated this stretch of track for the State of New Hampshire since 1975. |
