Remarks & Notes
At the old South Shop of Southern Railway (later renamed Pegram, in honor of retired v.p. Robert B. Pegram), Ps-4 Pacific 1408 is in the processing of receiving a Class 3 (heavy repairs) overhaul. Pegram was closed by NS in 1999. The facility dated to the days of the East, Tennessee, Virginia & Georgia, and was noted during the diesel era for maintaining "minority" builders, such as Southern's Alco fleet. Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.
