| It is 6:50 AM and the sun has just broke over the ridge and lights up Austin, MT. The remnants of the previous nights thunderstorm can be seen dissipating in the new dry air-mass and blue sky. I have been told the toughest pull on Mullan is around the loops. 2.2% Grades combined with curvature test the most modern machines. In this view all 3 sets of power used to muscle this coal load over the Divide can be seen, 17000+ tons and 9 locomotives! |
