| Remarks & Notes |
| Passenger power lays over at the 10th "roundhouse" just south of Louisville Union Station in this late-'50s scene by Tom Smart. L&N had abandoned this classic dark blue/cream scheme with orange trim, yellow/gold lettering and red and gold nose herald in favor of an all-blue scheme (for passenger units; freight units were all-black). These units, however, had eluded the blue bath so far, although the 760's paint is starting to fade. One of the reasons for the change was to switch from less durable lacquer paints to more weather and sun-resistant enamels. The lacquer paint dried much faster, which was essential for the multi-hued scheme--to keep down time in the shop to a minimum.
