| Overpowering the New River rapids nearby, an eastbound coal train blasts through Thurmond at 1:58am, passing the abandoned Thurmond Post Office. Restored and fully operated by the National Park Service, Thurmond serves as a time capsule from the C&O Railway when this community was at its peek. |
