| Remarks & Notes |
| A typically busy day at the wye in Appalachia, VA in the '70s: The St. Charles Local is backing toward Andover, with conductor Merl Snodgrass on the rear of the bay window cab, along with his flagman and head brakeman. An L&N track inspector has cleared up at the Kilbourne Ave. crossing to clear a northbound L&N freight, headed by a mix of Alcos and GE six-motor units. Engineer "Tiny" Ellison walks his power to check for a sticking independent brake on one of the units before continuing toward Kentucky. |
