Providence and Worcester train CT-1 bisects a local farm as they trek uphill toward the Tilcon Quarry at Rockfall. There, they will drop the majority of their train for gravel loading before continuing on to Middletown. The train is travelling on the former Boston and New York Air Line, which was constructed to be the most direct route between the two cities in the late 1800s. Although it enjoyed glory days as the route of the "White Train" and as an east-west freight main, ultimately the line's 19th century sharp curves and steep grades did it in as a through route. Today, the southernmost portion remains as the P&W's to access Middletown area industries, while the north end hosts commuter trains on the MBTA Franklin Line.
