| Remarks & Notes |
| Appearing at first to be a scene right out of the 1960s, a matched set of high hood EMD GP7/GP9 units depart Butte, Montana for a 52 mile journey to the Montana Rail Link interchange at Garrison. The 105, 104, 106 and 103 were built by EMD for the Butte Anaconda & Pacific Railway between 1953-1957. The Montana Western Railway leased 52 miles of Burlington Northern track (ex-Northern Pacific) between Butte and Garrison beginning in Sept. 1986. All train operations on this line returned to the BNSF Railway in July 2003. |
