| Remarks & Notes |
| High plains drifter: After a very early blizzard in October 1997, the eastern plains of Colorado were heavily drifted with snow. Union Pacific found that it needed to call the Cheyenne-based rotary snowplow to open up the Limon Subdivision (Kansas Pacific). UP's rotary plow No. 900082 chews through a small drift east of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, as the sun sinks in the afternoon sky. With a north wind blowing all day, this is the only stretch of railroad they tried blowing the snow to the north (for obvious reasons). |
