| Remarks & Notes |
| In the 1880s the CB&Q constructed a line form Midland, NE to Cheyenne, WY through the prairies of northeastern Colorado. While the land was advertised as somewhat of an agricultural paradise, the reality was far different. Brutal winters and dry periods lasting years at a time meant most homesteaders failed, and today the towns along the abandoned ROW are almost all considered ghost towns, with populations you can count on one hand. Grover, CO is one exception, still boasting a market, a cafe, and a school. The two-story depot still stands here along the old ROW, a testament to (slightly) more prosperous times and a different age of travel. |
