| The sun has already lowered behind the mountains as an eastbound intermodel attacks the long grade towards the summit of Steven's Pass. This bridge was originally built in 1892 and was located in the town of Index, 7 miles up river. In 1962, as part of a Great Northern realignment project between Gold Bar and Index, this truss span was moved and reassembled here to allow the line to switch sides of the river. |
