| Standard Railroad of the South
Built by the American Locomotive Co. Richmond Works in 1919, the logo of ACL 1504 still adorns one of the few USRA designed steam engines that remains in existence today. This steam engine is even more nostalgic since it is still basically in an as-built condition with only a few minor items not original. Classified by the Coast Line as a P-5-A Pacific, she was put to use in passenger service for her first 20 years before being reassigned to fast freight service until retiring in 1952. Fittingly, she can still be seen at the same place where she pulled many a passenger trains in her heyday, the former Jacksonville Terminal station which was also built in the same year as the 1504. |
