| The trolley bar and adjoining yard use to be the main shops of the San Diego & Arizona (Eastern was added after a takeover by SP). The railroad was constructed in the early 1910s to create a second competitive route to its name sake city in the hopes of preventing LA from becoming the dominate port city in Southern California. While the line failed in both regards, most of its trackage remains around San Diego used either by the city owned trolley or local short line SD&IY.. |
