| Down in the dispatcher's office in Erwin, Clinchfield Extra 1 South has just lit up the Kendrick's Creek track light on the big green US&S CTC board on the first floor of the general office building. The 1882-vintage Ten Wheeler is working hard to keep its two heavyweight coaches of admirers homeward bound after an all-day outing to St. Paul, Virginia. Sadly, such opportunities are mostly long gone on the American railroad scene. |
