Remarks & Notes
As a laborer waits in the shadows with hammer in hand, a pair of N&W steamers yearn for an assignment at the Shaffers Crossing pit. #2129 was a Y6 class engine. On the left is Z1a class #1483, a 2-6-6-2.

Pictures of things often unseen in the world of railroading. Interesting equipment, operations, and people that help the railroad go around.

just as the 1970s were a good era in virginia railroading, the 1950s and 1960s were just as colorful as the 1970s were. this a tribute to the days of simple railroading and why it served as a basis of what it is today.
