The transfer table, car and locomotive back shop at Erwin was still present in 1979. Front to back, we have an SD40, an ex-SCL SD45 (swapped for a Clinchfield U36C), an F7A, and a rare bird GP7. The last-named unit was a former Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis unit acquired from its second owner, the L&N (co-parent, with ACL, of the Clinchfield). The roof top air tanks reveal it once had a steam generator. Among other duties, it pulled the NC&StL's daily "City of Memphis" streamliner r/t from Memphis to Nashville and back. Lots of cool history here...
In rail terminology, a railway turntable or wheelhouse is a device for turning railway rolling stock, usually locomotives, so that they can be moved back in the direction from which they came.
If I run into a transfer table, that might get included.
