| Remarks & Notes |
| Ridgeley, WV 5/18/2008 - After years of weather had faded its Chessie System paint, Western Maryland GP-9 6400 was preparing to be backdated--taken back to her original black and gold Western Maryland paint scheme and her original road number as WM 25. Renumbered by Chessie in 1976, WM 6400 was the last Western Maryland locomotive to survive with its Chessie colors intact. Brought "home" to WM rails by the George's Creek Railway in Luke, MD, the 6400 was taken to the Western Maryland Scenic Railway shop to be stripped, sanded, and painted by GCK and WMSR crews, with the help of railfans who designed stencils and applied the WM lettering by hand. It is seen here outside the WMSR shops while being stripped down. |
