| Remarks & Notes |
| Derelict and Abandoned. The former Delaware & Hudson Colonie Diesel Shops were once the haunts of the famous D&H Sharks, PAs, and countless Alcos. By 1998, this lone (and Lilliputian) 35-ton switcher was the last locomotive standing sentinel at the site. The dark cloud hanging overhead foretells of an impending doom: the massive former D&H building eventually fell to the arsonist's torch. (The green switcher seen here was never a D&H unit; it toiled at the Allegheny Ludlum plant on the other side of the tracks, behind the photographer. It's gone from the Albany area; does anyone know where it went?) Scanned from Kodachrome 64. |
