| Remarks & Notes |
| Timeless.. A full moon has just dipped below the horizon and the eastern skies are beginning to show some color during this brief period after moonset and before sunrise. A star filled sky and complete darkness to the west has provided a spectacular and surreal view, as the Boiler House intermediate signal bridge stands tall, silhouetted against the increasingly light sky. It's 45 minutes before sunrise and a westbound empty coal drag can be heard in the distance as it descends the Alleghany mountains in dynamic brakes. The roads are slowly being polluted with motorists making their morning commute to work and another night on the former Chesapeake & Ohio mainline will soon be in the books. Scenes like this are truly timeless and thankfully with the advancement of digital technology, our DSRL's are able to capture scenes like this. As for our C&O signal bridge, the advancement of technology will be the death of this relic, with her replacement slated to be in late 2012 or early 2013. |
