| Remarks & Notes |
| Some of SP's best power roamed the WC once the Geneva ore contract was up and running. Most of the time the SP's tended to stay in ore service, but on occasion they would be cut off at North Fond du Lac and would await a returning ore job or be pressed into manifest service for a trip or two. This shot is of nearly new 241 and 249 about to depart Gladstone on train 12. It was kind of noteworthy at the time that the outbound crew was unfamiliar with the computer set up in the units and had the local Road Foreman run down and give them a quick course on how the units handled before departure. Most crews in Upper Michigan at the time had operated nothing more modern than a SD40-2. |
