The Chase Train. After photographing the White Pass Rotary Fleet crossing Bridge 14-A above Glacier Siding, our diesel-powered passenger train rambles slowly across the bridge to pick us up and resume the chase toward White Pass. On each of the 4 days of the 2011 White Pass Rotary Run, guest photographers were transported to and from the area of operations by this 5-car charter, powered by two of the recently rebuilt, GE 90-Class Locomotives. On the way up the mountain each day, our chase train would play leap-frog with the Rotary Fleet, sometimes running ahead of it and and sometimes behind it. Our crew pre-planned numerous stops at which we could photograph the plow train from scenic vistas both above and below it. And of course, at each servicing stop, our train put us right where the action was, allowing close-up shots of the railroaders working on the equipment. The train also provided us with lunch, snacks, drinks, restrooms and a place to relax if we were tired. It is no stretch to say that the crew of the train you see here really went the extra mile to ensure that everyone who attended this event left with life-long memories. Our most excellent crew consisted of: Conductor Craig Cline, Brakeman Dave Dobbs, Engineer Cliff Fletcher, and Train Agents Doreen Cooper, Jed Thompson, Jackie Taylor, Joey Broemeling, Julie Martin and Gil Dominguez. Thank you folks for an awesome week in God's country.
