| Ross, Joel and I have spent the last 45 minutes staked out at our chosen spots along the Skykomish River waiting for the dirt train to free itself from the embrace of winter. After what seemed like an eternity (frigid one at that), they finally determined it wasn't winter and ice that was holding them back, but a few extra brakes. Free at last, the crew is charging up the hill to Scenic where they will wait their turn for passage through the Cascade tunnel and points east. Along the way they'll cross several bridges.
