Remarks & Notes
A smiling N&W car inspector climbs aboard the lead unit of L&N train 66 at Norton. He's completing the required initial terminal brake test--not only a rule book imperative, but also essential from a safety standpoint, since the first ten miles will be downgrade at 1.25 percent. A big Alco C628 is up front today, assisted by two GE U25Cs. Their dynamics will help, but the engineer will rely primarily on his "Westinghouse."
