| Remarks & Notes |
| Purchasing a good slide scanner has given me an opportunity to revisit my slide collection, tracking down lots of forgotten goodies from the past. Photographed on August 23, 1986, Amtrak's eastbound California Zephyr receives some extra horsepower in the form of Rio Grande 3130, the last new GP40-2 purchased by the D&RGW from EMD in March of 1983. With the broken cloudiness I thought this one would look great scanned in monochrome, or black & white if you prefer. The location is in Utah Valley, between Geneva and Lakota Junction in an area once rural, but now built up with hundreds of new homes. Behind the normal duo of EMD F40PH units are four heritage baggage cars, the most I had every witnessed on train #6 up to that point. |
