North to Chester. My parting shot of Connecticut's Valley Railroad for 2011 was taken the day after Christmas, as one of the line's last steam trips for the year headed out of Essex toward the North Pole....or at least that's where the youngsters on board believed they were headed. The actual destination, of course, was Chester, just 7 miles up the line. Just a couple of minutes north of Essex Station, I managed to use my old Kodak Instamatic and several hot-wired flash cubes, to grab a frame of Old Number 40 as she rumbled across the Falls River, one of several Connecticut River tributaries that the train traverses on its northbound journey. :o)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
