| This is my first "action" shot: an L&N RS-3 working the first trick yard job at Loyall in April 1960. The shutter speed on my Kodak Brownie (the camera had no settings, so all you did was load the film, and then point and click) was somewhere between 1/25 and 1/50---so it was pretty useless for most train photography (unless the subject was standing still). Young train photographers back then were in the dark ages in terms of equipment and film, particularly compared to today's digital age of "gee whiz" equipment. I was 12 years old at the time. |
