Remarks & Notes
Two NS MofW workers use ignited oil-soaked ropes to heat the two rails on the west side of the frog of this main line switch. The heat from the fire will expand the rails to align the bolt holes and allow the worker in the foreground to install three new track bolts. The bolts will replace three others that have been snapped in two by the contraction of the rails in cold weather.

A tribute of appreciation for the workers who maintain the track, keeping our railways in shape, regardless of weather and danger, and run the trains to supply our nation. This is a commitment to show some of the work of these fine people.
Would you believe it?
