Here's one of my favorite Kodachrome slides taken when I chased trains via my Azuki 10-speed bike I named 'White Lightning'. Union Pacific's Provo Switcher departs Provo yard for Geneva Works with a long train of Iron Mountain ore for the steel mill. A few tracks over, a Rio Grande manifest picks up a cut of coil and plate steel (from Geneva Works) to interchange with the Western Pacific at Roper Yard in Salt Lake City. Some details in this view from University Avenue bridge include the Utoco bulk plant (at right) and in the distance, the PDM (Pittsburgh Des Moines) steel fabrication plant, Rio Grande's small engine servicing facility with two cabooses spotted on the cab track, and at far left, the D&RGW yard office and team tracks.
