| Amtrak's 40th Anniversary Train spent December 2011 in Southern California, which was a nice Christmas present. Sitting at the bumper, Amtrak 406 was built as an F40PH for GO Transit. Amtrak obtained this unit & a few others in the late 1980's. in 2010, this unit was slated to be a test bed: the unit is now a cab control car that houses a large CAT motor which is designed to provide HEP effectively to a large train set vs. the smaller intercity train sets. |
