| Princess Elizabeth makes a spirited departure from Elland hauling the 'York Yuletide Express'. She is hurtling past the site of Elland Station with a Liverpool to York special. Elland lost its station several years ago, something of a tragedy now that this route is getting ever busier. The former goods yard could have easily been converted to 'park and ride' and local commuters would have had easy access to major towns such as Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield without choking the roads as they do at present. It would still be possible with the will and the funding, both currently in very short supply! |
