| Remarks & Notes |
| Since Union Pacific ended passenger service on its Kansas Pacific mainline acrosss Central Kansas and eastern Colorado with the coming of Amtrak, passenger trains have been few and far between--but with the nearly-dormant route about to see a rebuilding for use in the late 1990s, Union Pacific sent a passenger excursion from Denver to Cheyenne Wells and return in October 994--A-B-A E-units, as you'd expect, with as many domes than the California Zephyr in its heyday--five, to be exact. Headed to Cheyenne Wells, the train curves through Kit Carson; after a picnic lunch, the train will head back to Denver on the stick rail, its passengers enjoying a ferocious thunderstorm near Limon. |
