| FCAB diesel #1407, built 1963 with builder number 28550, is still under full throttle, spending its days on the FCAB metregauge lines between Antofagasta and Ollagüe. We chased this train during our Tanago-tours-fact-finding-mission for more than 5 hours and were rewarded with some excellent shots of a classic consist with FCA and FCAB boxcars. Assuming that all cars were fully loaded, the train had a gross weight of ~1.200 tons. On the steep sections it was slowed down to 10 miles/hr - giving us even more time to enjoy the terrific sound of the diesel engines. |
