Remarks & Notes
Class 52 "Western" D1035 "Western Yeoman" pulls away from the now closed Gloucester Eastgate station with an express. It may well be a London Paddington to Cheltenham Spa service,as the class 52 diesel hydraulics were in charge of these services at this time. The train is about to pass over the road crossing at Horton Road, converted from hand operated crossing gates to automatic barriers just a year before.Horton Road depot can be glimpsed in the background, with a class 45 loco stabled.Further away, the tower of Gloucester Cathedral stands out above the rear vehicle of the train, which appears to be a parcels van.
